Day 1: Marrakech to Fes via Rabat – Imperial Capitals Journey
Early morning departure from your Marrakech riad or hotel. Travel north on the highway toward Morocco’s capital, Rabat. Upon arrival, enjoy a panoramic tour of Rabat’s imperial landmarks: the iconic Hassan Tower, an unfinished 12th-century minaret standing at 44 meters; the magnificent Mausoleum of Mohammed V with its intricate zellij tilework and white marble; and the Kasbah des Oudaias, a 12th-century fortress overlooking the Bou Regreg River with beautiful Andalusian gardens. Day 2: Fes to Chefchaouen – Morning in Medieval Fes, Afternoon in the Blue Pearl
After breakfast, enjoy a morning exploration of Fes el-Bali, the world’s largest car-free urban area and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Your driver will guide you to key viewpoints and accessible highlights: see the famous Chouara Tannery from a terrace viewpoint, wander through the bustling souks where artisans craft leather, metal, and textiles, and admire the exterior of the Bou Inania Madrasa with its intricate cedar carvings and zellij tilework. Day 3: Chefchaouen to Marrakech – Morning in the Blue City, Return Journey
After breakfast, enjoy a final morning in Chefchaouen. The soft morning light is perfect for capturing the iconic blue streets without crowds. Wander through the medina’s winding alleys, visit Plaza Uta el-Hammam with its distinctive red-walled kasbah and Grand Mosque, or hike to the Spanish Mosque for panoramic views of the blue city nestled in the mountains. Discover local artisan shops selling woven blankets, leather goods, and the distinctive goat cheese the region is known for. Late morning departure for the return journey to Marrakech. The drive from Marrakech to Fes takes approximately 4-5 hours, and from Chefchaouen back to Marrakech takes 6-7 hours. While the pace is fast, you will have quality time in each destination: a full afternoon in Fes with morning exploration the next day, and a full morning in Chefchaouen. However, Fes el-Bali is a labyrinth of over 9,000 streets, and a licensed local guide adds tremendous value by navigating efficiently, explaining history in depth, and taking you to hidden workshops and viewpoints. We can arrange a half-day local guide in Fes for an additional cost. Please request this at the time of booking.

Yes, with conditions. If your flight arrives in Marrakech before 8:00 AM, we can begin the tour directly from the airport. For later arrivals, we recommend adding an extra night in Marrakech before the tour begins. The drive to Fes on Day 1 requires an early departure (7:00 AM) to have enough time for Rabat and to arrive in Fes before dark. Contact us with your flight details, and we will advise the best option.

Essentials include: comfortable walking shoes for medina exploration, layers for cooler evenings (Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains can be chilly even in summer), a scarf for sun protection and cultural respect, a refillable water bottle, camera for blue street photography, and a small daypack for overnight items (your main luggage stays in the vehicle).
