Welcome to our travel Morocco tips page. Here you’ll find loads of useful info to help get you prepared before setting off your trip
Morocco offers diverse experiences – from imperial cities and Sahara deserts to Atlantic beaches and High Atlas mountains. Consider your travel style: cultural immersion, adventure, relaxation, or a mix of all. Spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) offer the best weather. Winter is perfect for desert trips, while summer is ideal for coastal escapes.
Learn a few basic Arabic or French phrases – locals appreciate the effort. Download offline maps for medinas. Make copies of your passport and important documents. Notify your bank of travel dates. Pack light layers for variable weather. Respect local customs – dress modestly, especially in rural areas and religious sites.
No mandatory vaccines for Morocco, but Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Tetanus are recommended. Bring any prescription medications with copies of prescriptions. Pharmacies are widely available and well-stocked. Travelers’ diarrhea is common – pack anti-diarrheal medication and hand sanitizer. Drink bottled or filtered water.
Most nationalities including US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand do not need a visa for stays up to 90 days. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your entry date. Check with your local Moroccan embassy before travel. No visa on arrival for most countries – arrive with valid passport only.
Travel insurance is highly recommended and mandatory for our tours. Ensure coverage includes medical expenses, trip cancellation, lost luggage, and emergency evacuation. Desert activities like camel trekking and 4×4 excursions should be covered. Keep your insurance details and emergency numbers accessible at all times.

Arrive at the airport 3 hours before international flights. Have your passport, flight confirmation, and accommodation details ready. Exchange some currency (Moroccan Dirham – MAD) at the airport for immediate needs. Contact your driver upon arrival – we provide a meet-and-greet service with a sign displaying your name.

Major international airports: Casablanca (CMN), Marrakech (RAK), Fes (FEZ), and Tangier (TNG). Direct flights available from Europe, North America, and Middle East. Within Morocco, domestic flights connect major cities. Allow 2-3 hours for international connections. Free WiFi available at most airports.

We recommend private driver-guides over self-driving in Morocco. Roads in mountains can be challenging. If self-driving, rent a 4×4, purchase full insurance, and avoid night driving. Speed cameras are common. International driving permit required along with home license. Parking in medinas is difficult – use official guarded parking.
Dress modestly – shoulders and knees covered in cities and rural areas. Bargain respectfully in souks – start at half the asking price. Accept mint tea when offered – it’s a sign of hospitality. Ask permission before photographing locals. Tipping is customary (10-15% in restaurants, €5-10/day for drivers). Stay hydrated and use sunscreen.
